Fortnite for Android can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store
We warned him a few months ago , and although he has been praying more than expected at first, in the end it has happened: Fortnite has just landed on the Google Play Store officially , about a year and a half after the arrival of the game in its mobile version based on the Google platform.
There were doubts about whether Google would allow Fortnite to be published on Google Play , given that the intention of Epic Games - the company that developed the game - was to prevent Google from obtaining 30% of the profits generated through in-app purchases . Something that, in theory, is possible since, according to Epic, the Google Play developer distribution agreement does not indicate that developers are required to use Google's payment platform.
Although we will probably know more details about the situation of Fortnite on Google Play in the coming hours, the reality is that it is already possible to download the popular Battle Royale from the official app store , in the same way that until now it was possible to do it on the web from Epic Games and Samsung's Galaxy Apps store.
Fortnite comes to Google Play more than a year and a half after its launch on Android
The non-launch of Fortnite in the Google Play Store was one of the most controversial issues in which the famous multiplatform game has been immersed, because indirectly, Epic Games endangered a good part of Android users by forcing them to download the title from an external source to Google Play in order to play it.
In fact, on the occasion of this decision, Google had to take measures in this regard to protect Android users and prevent them from being misled by the barrage of fake Fortnite copies that appeared after the launch of the game, both inside and outside of Google Play.
Be that as it may, now Fortnite is already present in the Google Play catalog. Of course, the game can be downloaded for free although it has paid elements , and there does not seem to be any difference between the version of the game provided through the Google app store, and the one hosted by Epic Games on its official website.
Despite this feat, Epic Games seems to be not entirely satisfied with the fact that it had to go through the hoop and abide by the rules of the big G in terms of ways to earn income. At least, that we deduce when reading the statement that the developer has shared with the Polygon portal , where they explain that, after 18 months offering Fortnite through external channels to Google Play, they have reached the conclusion that " Google puts the downloadable software outside of Google Play at a disadvantage through technical and commercial measures such as repetitive and terrifying security pop-ups ”, as well as through systems such as Google Play Protect, which attempts to“ completely block content obtained outside of Google Play ”.

Really insightful! Thanks for breaking this down.
